Our spines should be able to move freely in all directions without pain. Over time, our body adapts to poor posture and movement patterns leading to stiffness especially in the thoracic spine. Pain or injury can also lead to limitations or avoidance of spinal movements.
Pilates can restore mobility and flexibility in your body to alleviate spinal rigidity and back pain. It improves articulation of the spine through each vertebrae. The goal is to find length throughout all planes of spinal movement to avoid compression in the neck or low back.
Our bodies are meant to move. Joseph Pilates said, "Change happens through movement and movement heals!"
