The Hokusai Museum in Obuse, Nagano Prefecture, is dedicated to the esteemed ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, renowned for works like “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” In his later years, Hokusai frequently visited Obuse, where he created several notable pieces.  
Museum Highlights:
• Festival Floats: The museum houses two festival floats adorned with Hokusai’s ceiling paintings: 
• Higashimachi Float: Features a dragon mural.
• Kanmachi Float: Depicts masculine and feminine wave designs.
• Art Collections: Explore a variety of Hokusai’s original paintings, woodblock prints, and multi-colored “nishiki-e” brocade pictures.

• Address: 485 Obuse, Obuse Town, Kamitakai District, Nagano Prefecture 381-0201 
• Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on New Year’s Day); closed on December 31 and occasionally on other dates. 
• Admission Fees:
• Adults: ¥1,000
• High School Students: ¥500 
• Junior High and Elementary Students: ¥300 
• Children under elementary age: Free

Access:
• By Train: From Nagano Station, take the Nagano Electric Railway to Obuse Station (20 minutes by express train, 30 minutes by local train). The museum is a 12-minute walk from the station. 
• By Car: Approximately 10 minutes from the Joshinetsu Expressway Suzaka Nagano Higashi Interchange or 15 minutes from the Shinshu Nakano Interchange.
