The FBI just released photos of a potential suspect in the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie. The photos show someone in a ski mask, gloves, and backpack in front of her door.
With Kash Patel explaining that over the last week, the FBI and local officers have been working to recover any video footage from her home that was lost or corrupted, and “as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance.”
And in a follow up post, Patel shared video footage of this person at the door, too.
With the FBI encouraging anyone with information related to this to come forward. And Savannah Guthrie sharing these images herself, writing:
“Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”
With this coming as just yesterday, she posted a video asking the public to help in this search.
“We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly, around the clock, to try to bring her home, to try to find her. She was taken and we don’t know where. And we need your help. So I am coming on to ask you, not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are, even if you are far from Tuscon, if you see anything, if you hear anything, if there is anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement. We are at an hour of desperation.”
And she has President Trump behind her, as the White House also shared images of this potential suspect, encouraging anyone with knowledge to speak out. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt even opened her briefing today by echoing that call and sending prayers to the Guthrie family.
But as for where this search stands now on its tenth day, well, per NBC News, officials are not currently aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor has a suspect officially been identified. As far as that alleged ransom note demanding $6 million in bitcoin, well, the deadline on it has passed, and the note itself is still unverified. And the FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of whoever is behind Nancy’s disappearance.
But some are hopeful that these photos could make a difference, with former deputy director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, telling CNN that this “could be the moment that turns this incredibly excruciating investigation around.” Right, noting other major cases have been aided by surveillance footage. And I hope they are right, that this will change things, that this will help bring Nancy home, and as always, my thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
