Vietnam combat veteran Karl Swenson shares memories of his role as an officer/platoon leader in Vietnam. Mr. Swenson served 2 ½ years in Vietnam—eighteen months with the 1st Cavalry Division in II Corps and twelve months with Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV). With the 1st Cavalry, he was a platoon leader in Delta Company and then Echo Company. A year later, in 1971, he returned to Vietnam as an advisor to South Vietnamese Regional Forces/Popular Forces.
