Fort Kearny State Recreation Area, near Kearney, Nebraska

Описание: Spend a day with us as we visit Fort Kearny State Recreation Area. We follow the hike and bike path from Fort Kearny to Cottonmill Park. The paved Kearney Hike and Bike trail is approximately 13 miles long and winds through wooded areas, open prairie, and along the Platte river. Fort Kearny State Recreation Area is located on186 acres of land dotted with 8 sandpit lakes, a swimming beach, river access, a kayaking water trail, camp grounds and historic Fort Kearny.
Manufacturing of cotton goods beginning the 1880's the Cottonmill Factory used water provided by the Cottonmill canals and lake. Cottonmill Park is what remains of the old factory water system. The park offers fishing, no-wake boating, disc golfing, horseback riding, nature trails and hiking. Sorry no camping.
Take a slow stroll or get a great work out - the Kearney Hike and Bike Trail is great place to spend some time outside.
