Mount Kailash… a peak that is not just a mountain, but a living mystery.
For millions of Hindus, Mount Kailash is believed to be the divine abode of Lord Shiva, the sacred home of Mahadev Himself. It is one of the most powerful spiritual locations on Earth, worshipped not only in Hinduism but also respected deeply in Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon traditions.
Yet, despite its holiness, Mount Kailash remains one of the most untouchable mountains in the world.
Even though it is nearly 2,200 meters shorter than Mount Everest, no one dares to climb it. Not because of lack of skill… but because of the strange and terrifying mysteries surrounding it.
Many unbelievable claims exist about this place:
It is said that the human aging process becomes unusually faster near Mount Kailash — as if time itself moves differently. Legends claim that those who attempted to climb the mountain never returned normally, and some reportedly died within just a few years after their attempt.
Even the idea of reaching the summit by helicopter has failed. Pilots have reported that once they fly closer, the atmosphere suddenly changes — pressure increases, strange weather disturbances appear without warning, and the human body starts reacting abnormally, forcing them to turn back.
Another shocking mystery:
It is believed that at the top of Mount Kailash, even compasses fail to work, as if all directions merge into one. That is why the mountain is also known as a place where the compass becomes useless — a symbol of how this sacred land refuses to be controlled by humans.

Near Mount Kailash lie two legendary lakes:
Manasarovar – the holy freshwater lake, pure and divine
Rakshastal – the salty lake, believed to be associated with dark energies

Around 6,666 km from the North Pole, 6,666 km from Stonehenge, and exactly double distance (13,332 km) from the South Pole — leading to the belief that this place may be the “Third Pole” or even the spiritual center of the planet.
But perhaps the greatest legend of all is about Shambhala — a secret hidden city inside Mount Kailash, described as a divine civilization beyond ordinary human reach.
One story says that in the 11th century, only one person in history successfully climbed Mount Kailash and returned safely — the Tibetan yogi and Buddhist saint Milarepa. Through intense meditation, spiritual discipline, and unbelievable tapasya, he is believed to have reached the summit. And after returning, he reportedly never spoke to anyone until his death, as if he witnessed something that words could never express.
Even today, Mount Kailash remains unclimbed, untouched, and unexplained.
No matter how advanced humans become, some secrets of Earth remain beyond science… beyond logic… beyond understanding.
