7 Signs That The Holy Spirit Wants to Speak To You | C.s. Lewis
Have you ever felt like God was trying to get your attention? The Holy Spirit is always present, guiding, convicting, and speaking to us. But are we listening? Here are 7 clear signs that the Holy Spirit wants to speak to you.
1. A Sudden Awareness of Sin
One of the most powerful ways the Holy Spirit speaks is through conviction. If you suddenly feel deeply uncomfortable about something you once tolerated—whether it's a bad habit, toxic behavior, or unrepented sin—it’s a sign that the Holy Spirit is calling you to repentance. John 16:8 says, “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.”
2. A Strong Urge to Pray
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night with an unexplainable urge to pray? Or felt the need to pray for someone specific? This is often the Holy Spirit prompting you to intercede. Romans 8:26 tells us, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness… the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
3. A Verse or Message Repeats in Your Life
If you keep seeing or hearing the same Bible verse, sermon, or Christian message over and over, it’s not a coincidence. The Holy Spirit often repeats messages to capture our attention. When this happens, ask God what He is trying to reveal to you.
4. A Deep Peace or Uneasiness in Decisions
The Holy Spirit gives us discernment when making decisions. If you feel overwhelming peace about a choice, it may be confirmation from God. But if you feel an unshakable uneasiness, it may be a warning. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
5. An Unexpected Open or Closed Door
Sometimes God speaks by opening or closing doors. Have you ever had an opportunity suddenly disappear or a path unexpectedly open? When doors close, trust that God is redirecting you. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He shall direct your paths.”
6. A Burden for Others
If you feel a deep compassion or burden for a particular person, group, or situation, the Holy Spirit may be calling you to pray, serve, or minister to them. Galatians 6:2 says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
7. An Overwhelming Hunger for God’s Word
When the Holy Spirit is moving in your life, you will develop an intense hunger for God’s Word. You’ll crave the Bible more, find joy in worship, and long to be in God’s presence. If you feel this pull, don’t ignore it—God is drawing you closer!
The Holy Spirit speaks in many ways, but we must be ready to listen. Are you paying attention to His voice? If this message spoke to you, let us know in the comments. Like this video, subscribe, and share it with someone who needs encouragement. May God bless you abundantly!
