The endocrine system is an intricate network of hormone-secreting glands that regulates fundamental bodily processes like metabolism, growth, and sexual development. The two major components of the endocrine system that control and produce hormones are the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. This pharmacology lecture covers the mechanisms of action of numerous medications used to treat endocrine diseases as well as the hormones secreted by the pituitary and hypothalamus.
The mentioned drugs include; vasopressin, antidiuretic hormone, terlipressin, desmopressin, conivaptan and tolvaptan.
