The Committee oversees MSDE's investment in education by comparing it to student outcomes over time, ensuring alignment with long-term Maryland State Board of Education goals. It also provides oversight on key emergent initiatives and conducts deep dives into the implementation and operational progress of departmental work to support continuous improvement and accountability. The Strategy and Operations Committee meetings are public meetings, with the exception being the consideration of budget matters that are subject to Executive Privilege.
