I (43F) recently got married to my husband (45M) who happens to be the son of a colleague of my dad. I've been married once before and even have a daughter from my previous marriage, she's nineteen years old. My first husband ended up cheating on me when my daughter was just two months old so obviously, I filed for divorce and since he didn't really care what became of us, he let us go. Since then, I've been raising my daughter on my own and I'm actually proud of how far I've come. I wish I could say the same thing about my father, though. My dad (65M) is a conservative sort of man and doesn't believe in the idea of divorce so he was really upset with me when I chose to divorce my first husband instead of sticking it out with him. He didn't speak to me for a month or so when it happened but I begged and pleaded for him to forgive me back then because he's the only family I have and I just couldn't stand the thought of being all alone. He forgave me eventually for disappointing him and even let me stay with him until I had enough money to be back on my feet again. Since then, he's been an active part of my life.
