From a backyard garden in Bikizana Village to leading a co-operative that provides employment to 23 young people, Bukeka Buqwana’s journey demonstrates the real impact of empowering local entrepreneurs.
She began her farming journey in 2020 after being unable to secure a job. Through commitment and community support, she established the Zakhe Youth Development Co-op, which now contributes to local food production and youth employment in Sterkspruit, under the Senqu Local Municipality.
Her story highlights the strength of women in farming and the importance of grassroots development.
