Homemade Maple Bacon Doughnuts

Made with ingredients I had on hand (didn't have eggs)
Yields about 18-20 doughnuts:
DOUGHNUTS:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1.5 cups milk
2 teaspoons vinegar
8 tablespoons butter, melted
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
optional cinnamon and nutmeg
*Mix dry ingredients together. Mix milk and vinegar and leave aside for a few minutes to thicken, then add rest of wet ingredients (melted butter and vanilla extract).
***If you have a donut pan, bake for 10 minutes at 400'F.
***If no pan, add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of additional flour to thicken batter. Placed batter into ziploc bag and leave in fridge while setting up frying apparatus. Heat 1 inch of oil in a pan. When ready to fry, retrieve ziplock bag, cut corner, and pipe 2-3 circles in your pan. Fry for 45 seconds on each doughnut side and remove from pan and drain on paper towels.
MAPLE SYRUP GLAZE:
8 tablespoons maple syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 tablespoons whole milk
2 1/4 cup powdered sugar
optional cinnamon and nutmeg
Mixed everything until incorporated. Add more milk to create more runny consistency. Add more powdered sugar if you want thicker glaze.
GARNISH:
10-12 strips of crispy bacon, chopped into small pieces for garnish
optional: caramel drizzle
Notes:
Tastes like a funnel cake, churro, and a doughnut mixed in one. Crunchy on the outside and airy in the middle (I fried mine). Glaze tastes best when solidified. Can last up to week in fridge. Enjoy. #doughnuts #donuts #maplebacondonuts #sweettooth #recipe #food #bacon #cook #bake
