A few years ago, I bought one of the ugliest homes in my neighborhood with grand ambitions to fix it up and turn it in to my “Dream” Starter-home. Over the course of a few years, I poured a ton of sweat equity into this home and, thankfully, my brother was around to help me with many of the projects. This video will show you exactly how we completely transformed the exterior of this home by tackling a bunch of projects that can roughly be broken up into the following categories:

By completing all of these project, we completely transformed both the backyard and the curb appeal of this home – adding ~250k of equity in the Process! (But I also probably spent at least 75k on tools materials over the course of 3 years...)

Backyard:
In the backyard, we started by demolishing pretty much everything (The deck, the fence, the shed, etc.). Next, we did some structural work for the deck (e.g. extending the concrete slab landing) and built the shed using pressure treated lumber and Trex decking. I decided to install a wire railing on the deck which I think turned out great. We also built a new fence, a privacy screen, and added an outdoor projector screen adjacent to the deck for some outdoor movies.

Front Yard Transformation:
When I bought the House, the curb appeal was a joke. To fix this, we started by upgrading the “stoop” with new railings and an extending concrete landing. Next, we built a new curved concrete sidewalk leading up to the house and added a DIY Concrete Garden curb to separate the garden from the Lawn.

Modern Shed:
The Modern Shed build was definitely a passion project and something that I wanted to build for fun. I think it turned out awesome and I have detailed videos on every step of the modern shed building process.

Porch Addition:

Overall, I leaned a TON renovating this home and even though it was a ton of work, I wouldn’t change for the world. Although it cost a lot of time and money, it is now an asset in my portfolio that I am super proud of!
