In this video, I type in Alphabet Cadet, a classic Commodore 64 type-in game published in the July 1988 issue of RUN Magazine, and then put it to the test.
Alphabet Cadet is a one- or two-player educational game where you compete against another player or the computer to form a target word from falling letters. It’s fast, intense, and brutally challenging when playing against the computer.
More than that, it’s a great example of the kinds of games that were published as type-ins during the 1980s — ambitious, creative, and designed to be both fun and instructional.
If you enjoy Commodore 64 programming, retro computing, classic type-in games, and nostalgic deep dives into vintage computer magazines, this one’s for you.
Happy typing!
