Описание: We have created an alien planet. This world looks nothing like the one humans inherited, or what nature intended. There is an endless stream of cars 24 hours a day, and endless stream of noxious fumes that rise through the thousands of miles concrete and glass we've laid on top of the earth. We know it's poisoning everything around us: the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water that sustains us, the climate that is warming. It's something from science-fiction, but we're living it now.

Our public spaces are completely dominated by cars. Every open area is filled with cars or roads for them to drive and park on. Sidewalks, bike lanes, pedestrian crossings are not safe from cars either. Drunk, aggressive, ignorant, uneducated, and dangerous drivers roam the streets. In 2018 there is still no written or practical test to get a drivers licence in Mexico City. Walking anywhere is a stressful experience. Cars bear down on you, no signals are respected, it's every person for themselves. There are no consequences, police are bribed daily and care nothing for anything but money. The most vulnerable comes last.

Yet we continue.

*Build more cars: For every new inhabitant in Mexico City there are 9.4 cars added to the road. Between 2000 and 2017 the population of Mexico City has increased 2% whilst the number of cars has increased by 100% to 5 million cars. Politicians and the rich make money off of it.
*Build more roads: It's proven to increase traffic not ease it, but politicians and the rich make money off of it so it continues.
*Build more buildings: There are ever more poor living on the streets, we only build for the rich and the corrupt, because they make money off of it.
*Budget for cars: Public transport, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure gets a fraction of the budget car infrastructure, it's an afterthought. Politicians and the rich make money off of cars.

Am I riding recklessly? Or is the system we maintain reckless?

Este mundo no se parece en nada a lo que los humanos heredaron, o lo que la naturaleza pretendía.
Hay un sinfín de autos las 24 horas del día, y un sinfín de humos nocivos que se elevan a través del concreto y vidrio interminables que hemos puesto encima de la tierra. Sabemos que se está envenenando todo lo que nos rodea, el aire que respiramos, los alimentos que comemos, el agua que nos sostiene, el clima que se está calentando. Es algo de ciencia ficción, pero lo estamos viviendo ahora.

Nuestros espacios públicos están completamente dominados por los coches. Cada área pública está llena de autos o caminos para que manejen o se estacionen. Banquetas, carriles bici, los cruces peatonales tampoco están a salvo de los automóviles. Conductores ebrios, agresivos, ignorantes, sin educación y peligrosos acechan las calles. En 2018 todavía no hay ningún examen escrito o práctico para obtener la licencia de manejo en la ciudad de México. Caminar a cualquier lugar es una experiencia estresante. Los coches te avasallan, las señales no se respetan, es cada persona por sí misma. No hay consecuencias, la policía es sobornada diariamente y no se preocupan por nada que no sea dinero. La más vulnerable es la última.
 
Sin embargo seguimos.
*Fabricando más autos: Por cada nuevo habitante en la Ciudad de México hay 9.4 autos agregados a la carretera. Entre 2000 y 2017, la población de la Ciudad de México aumentó un 2%, mientras que la cantidad de automóviles aumentó en un 100% a 5 millones de automóviles. Los políticos y los ricos ganan dinero con ello.
*Construyendo más carreteras: está comprobado que aumenta el tráfico, no lo alivia, pero los políticos y los ricos hacen dinero con esto.
*Haciendo más edificios: cada vez hay más pobres viviendo en las calles, solo construimos para los ricos y los corruptos, porque así ganan dinero.
*Más presupuesto para automóviles: la infraestructura de transporte público, bicicletas y peatones es una mínima fracción comparada con la de automóviles, es un plan secundario porque los ricos ganan dinero con esto.

¿Soy yo el que rueda imprudentemente o el imprudente es el sistema que mantenemos?
