Just when the discussion on the cabinet formation was heating up, senior Congress leader SR Patil dropped a bomb by resigning to KPCC working president. Speaking to the media in Hubballi, Patil said that he is not upset over resigning to his post as he failed to live upt to the expectations. he also said that it was he who invited Siddaramaiah to contest from North Karnataka.

SR Patil resigned to his post as KPCC working president on May 25th and had even informed AICC president Rahul gandhi about it.
