Synopsis: Using an interdisciplinary approach–Humanities and Sciences–this presentation seeks to explore the latest evolution in AI technology and the potential implications for several sectors in the country of Belize.
A conversation about the intricate relationship between Intel (data), Intelligence (human ingenuity), and Artificial Intelligence (the product of data and human ingenuity) is not only crucial to further national development but a step towards bridging the tech gap between the Global North and the Global South.
Therefore, this presentation will attempt to grapple with the following important questions that have arisen as a result of AI advancement: Who owns AI-generated data? What positive or negative impacts might Belize endure from integrating real data with data generated from AI? And, what happens when we can no longer distinguish between real data and fictional AI-generated data?
Ultimately, the purpose of this endeavor is to begin the discourse about what the current epoch in AI technologies means for Belize in a global landscape that is growing increasingly tech-driven and tech-dependent.
