Automated Volumetric DDoS Mitigation in Research and Education

This session will examine Stanford University’s successful implementation of Corero's automated DDoS mitigation tool, Smartwall Threat Defense Director (TDD).

TDD uses telemetry, machine learning analytics, and network programmability to protect the network automatically.

Unlike traditional methods of DDoS defense, such as RTBH routing, the use of out-of-band scrubbing centers, or other manual interventions, Stanford’s Corero solution from Juniper Networks automatically identifies and immediately mitigates volumetric attacks within seconds, protecting the Stanford network from sophisticated and malicious attacks without interrupting operations.
