Описание: This video examines two examples of Barbasetti's extended parries (see p. 37, The Art of the Sabre and Epee_). Using these parries, which all the Radaellians advocate, requires a shift in how one thinks of the riposte. In most cases, you will not be able to use direct cuts (what Del Frate termed a _coupé_), but will need to use the molinelli. In this example, Juliet attacks with a feint, first, to deep target where I parry more as one does today (with a bent arm), then she makes a _molinello ristretto to the top of the arm before thrusting to the abdomen in second. Next, I parry 4 but with an extended guard--here, she feints to the inside wrist, then makes the molinello to the arm. In the second example, I parry with a deeper "modern" first, then switch to the extended parry of first--notice how much harder it is for her to strike my arm in the extended version. In the next video, we will explore the basic molinello ripostes from each of the extended guards.
