You’re looking at Mizuno’s brand new Modern Series irons, the Mizuno Pro M-13 and M-15, and in this video I test them properly to see where they actually sit in the lineup and who they’re really built for. These are not just cosmetic updates to the S-1 and S-3 style heads. Mizuno has changed the construction, the materials and the way the long, mid and short irons are built in order to chase more speed, more forgiveness and more consistency while still keeping the shaping and feel that better players expect from a Mizuno Pro iron.
The M-13 is aimed at the ball striker who wants a classic look with a slightly faster and more stable flight. The long and mid irons use Chromoly and face technologies designed to keep ball speed high and launch more consistently, while the scoring irons move back to a one-piece forged construction for maximum feel and control. The result is an iron that still looks and feels like a tour iron at address, but is noticeably easier to hit and more stable across the face than older traditional blades or cavity backs.
The M-15 is the more forgiving option of the two and is built to help with launch, carry and stability through the longer irons. The hollow-body construction and internal weighting push the centre of gravity lower and deeper, making it easier to get the ball airborne and keep ball speed on slight mishits. Despite that added forgiveness, it still retains a relatively compact shape and a forged feel that will appeal to better players who just want a bit more help, especially in the 4 through 7 iron.
In this review, I look at both models side by side on a launch monitor, comparing ball speed, launch, spin, carry, dispersion and feel. I also talk about the turf interaction, how the soles behave through impact, and whether the extra forgiveness in the M-15 actually shows up in real shots compared to the M-13. If you’re trying to decide between these two models or work out whether either of them makes sense for your game, this video should give you a clear, honest answer.
If you’re considering a new set of players' irons and want something that blends traditional Mizuno feel with modern speed and forgiveness, the M-13 and M-15 are two of the most interesting options to look at right now. Let me know in the comments which one you’d play and why.

Steve Carroll, an R&A rules official will often stop by to ensure you are not breaking the rules and get the opinion of an average club golfer.
Jack will dive deep into technology in reviews of all the latest golf equipment, helping you decide which is the longest driver, which fairway wood will stop you from topping the ball, and which wedges will pitch it closer, so you can lower your scores.
