Novel Synopsis:
Ever since I found out my husband was cheating, I started plotting to wipe our marital assets clean.
If we divorced and split the estate, the mistress would be the biggest winner.
So I ruined the company — if there’s no money left, what’s there to split?
Everyone would be poor, and I would start a new business from scratch.
After all, I had originally built our family business up from zero with my bare hands.
My husband lived off the fruits of my labor but sneered at the weathered lines on my face.
The other woman, Ondine, is my relative — someone I helped greatly — yet she repaid me with treachery, and in the end even spat a mouthful of thick phlegm at me.
So I decided to take a scorched-earth approach: if I can wound a thousand enemies at the cost of a thousand of my own, so be it — I was willing to burn everything to the ground.
While my husband lay unconscious from the car accident, I moved quickly to destroy the company.
Ondine finally cracked and ran up to me, “Was it worth it for someone like me?”
I nodded. “Proud? You’re a scourge on society.”
When my husband Hugh woke up, he sat there blankly for three days. His first question was what I was after.
I laughed and answered, "I may have lost money, but I have achieved a spiritual victory."
He smashed everything he could, cursing me as a mad dog.
But it was just impotent rage.
I had already prepared an escape route for myself. Who would want to sink with them?
