The Quine–McCluskey method (also called the tabular method) is a systematic procedure used to minimize Boolean functions. Unlike Karnaugh maps, which are suitable only for up to 4–6 variables, this method can handle functions with more variables. It is widely used in digital electronics to simplify logic circuits, reduce gate count, and optimize performance.
The Quine–McCluskey method provided a systematic minimization of the Boolean function, identifying all prime implicants and selecting essential ones. While computationally heavier than Karnaugh maps for small functions, it is highly effective for computerized minimization of Boolean expressions with many variables.
