It is from a time when British engineering was in its heyday. Innovative designers pushed the boundaries of what was possible to create the finest racing motorcycles of their day, and the Isle Of Man was the ultimate testing ground for both man and machine.
This was only the second year that the TT had been included as part of the World Championship.
