The Munich U-Bahn is the backbone of the city’s public transport. Opened in 1971, it now runs on 8 lines with 100 stations across over 100 kilometers of track. Some stations are especially eye-catching, such as Westfriedhof with its colorful lights or Marienplatz with its modern design under the historic square. Trains run frequently and connect the city center with suburbs, business districts, and cultural attractions, making the U-Bahn both practical and uniquely stylish.
