Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Brophy Figure 8 Coupling Link for a three-eighths inch size chain. Has a 7,000 pound working load limit. Now this coupling link will let you attach safety chains to your hitch quickly and easily. As we mentioned the application, it fits three eighths inch thick chains, and it's stamped on the coupling link.

You can see three eighths inch to let you know that. This will create a more accessible attachment point than the connection loops on your hitch. This will include everything shown here, the two piece coupling link, the pin, and then the retaining collar. Now, basically to put this together, what you'll do is put the two pieces together, line the holes up, take the pin, start it on one side. When you get to the middle, you'll take your retaining collar, put it in there, and it is a press fit through that retaining collar.

So you'll need to take a hammer and tap it through all the way. So the two pieces will be stayed attached. If you ever need to take 'em apart, just put a punch on the pin, tap that pin all the way out, remove your retaining collar, and then your two pieces will come apart. Now these are a grade 80 steel construction. You can see they have a nice corrosion-resistant zinc plating.

They do have a safe working low limit of 7,000 pounds. Now there are a few dimensions listed on this link and they are available on the product page if you need those dimensions.
