Описание: GENDER EQUALITY: FORMAL DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN AT THE WORKPLACE / In this video I have discussed the formal discrimination that takes place in political parties through women's wings; in newsrooms by not giving women "inappropriate beats;" etc. These discriminations take place in such a way that we don't realize the inequality or the unfairness. It is, however, important to realize that these are unfair practices that create inequality. It is important to discuss these issues in order to bring about change. Men and women need to realize that gender equality is necessary in order to create a balance between the sexes. Discriminating against one sex is counter-productive to creating an environment where people feel comfortable enough to achieve their highest levels of productivity.

Some of the obstacles in our way to attaining gender equality include: limitations set by society/culture/traditions/family pressures; gender stereotypes; rigid gender roles; gender bias and gender prejudice.
