A piece of California modernist history just changed hands — Joseph Eichler’s personal home in Atherton’s Lindenwood neighborhood has sold for $5.5 million. Built in 1951, the 3,700-square-foot midcentury masterpiece was Eichler’s own residence for more than a decade and marked his first collaboration with architects Robert Anshen and Steve Allen, the duo who went on to design the iconic post-and-beam Eichler Homes that redefined suburban living.
Originally listed in March for $6.38 million, the property received multiple offers before closing in late May — proof that architectural pedigree still drives competition, even in today’s market.
