Dare County hosted a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 to provide general information and answer questions from the community about the Buxton beach nourishment project that is scheduled to begin this summer.
In addition to several members of the Dare County Board of Commissioners and Dare County staff, including County Manager Bobby Outten and Assistant County Manager/Special Projects and Procurement Manager Dustin Peele, the meeting also featured several representatives from the National Park Service - Outer Banks Group.
Following a brief discussion about the nourishment project—which included information about the expected timeline and duration—there was also an opportunity for attendees to ask questions regarding the information shared.
