President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomes Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of the Commonwealth of Australia as the latter embarks on an Official Visit to the Philippines from 7-8 September 2023.
Accompanied by the Australian delegation, Prime Minister Albanese is accorded with arrival honors and signs the guestbook before proceeding to a tête-a-tête with President Marcos Jr..
Both leaders are expected to discuss priority areas of cooperation between the two nations anchored in the advancement of key sectors that include defense and security, trade, economic development and maritime cooperation, among others.
This is the first visit of an Australian Prime Minister to the Philippines since 2003. The two countries celebrated 75 years of longstanding bilateral relationship and diplomatic ties in 2021.
