How to convert a 2 stroke 2.5Hp Mercury outboard (built by Tohatsu) to 3.3Hp (or 3.5Hp depending on the year and model ). Also applies to Tohatsu outboards and Tohatsu made Mariner, Nissan, Evinrude, and Johnson motors.
Most of these engines are restricted down to 2.5 Hp with a simple restrictor plate. This video shows the location of the restrictor plate. Simply remove it for full power.
Some 2.5's are restricted in the slide opening. If the slide won't open fully, either modify the original slide or replace it with the 3.3 or 3.5 slide. Good luck!
