Описание: The migrant shelter on Bruckner Boulevard in The Bronx is expected to close by the end of 2026 as part of an action plan by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. It's an effort to bring the city's shelter system back Into compliance after emergency rules were put in place during the migrant crisis. The Bruckner Boulevard site currently houses around 1,950 people. All of them will be moved into city shelters run by the Department of Social Services. City officials say the plan also includes reducing overcrowding in single-adult shelters, bringing facilities back to a 200-bed limit, and moving families out of hotels and into compliant shelters. Officials say new shelters will open in the coming months and existing capacity will be reallocated, including converting some hotel rooms currently used for families into shelter space for single adult men.
