Iran launches new email permit system for ships transiting Strait of Hormuz, Press TV reports

Описание: Iran has introduced a new mechanism for ships wishing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to state-run Press TV. Under the system, vessels intending to transit receive an email from an address linked to the "Persian Gulf Strait Authority" informing them of transit regulations. Ships are then required to comply with the framework and receive a transit permit before passing through the strategic waterway.
Iranian officials have been speaking about "solidifying control" and a "new equation" in the strait. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that "a new balance of forces is gradually taking shape" and that "safe navigation is under threat due to the US and its allies' violation of the ceasefire." Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also been central to Iran's diplomatic messaging amid the escalation.
The Iranian foreign ministry also pointed fingers at Gulf countries, with the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stating that the only reason Iran has targeted their territories was to defend itself against aggression by the United States and Israel. He added that Gulf states hosting US military bases and providing logistical support are regarded as "accomplices" and "complicit" in the act of aggression against Iran. Despite the escalatory measures, Iran says it remains open to negotiation and diplomacy, but is positioning itself in a very strong posture when it comes to the Strait of Hormuz.
