Taught by Kyla McConnell (@McConnellKyla) and Julia Müller (@JuliaMuellerFr), PhD students at the University of Freiburg in Linguistics.
In this workshop, we'll explore the {gt} package and create beautiful, colourful tables together. The name gt stands for "grammar of tables" because its approach is similar to that of ggplot: setting up an underlying structure which allows users to build up tables layer by layer.
We'll start by creating summary tables with our other favourite (collection of) packages - the tidyverse. Then, we'll make these tables look pretty with {gt} - add and polish the descriptions, change column widths, add a splash or two of colour. We'll also cover adding subgroups, summaries such as averages, and spanners to group columns together.
Finally, we'll take a look at the {gtsummary} package to create custom tables of descriptive statistics and learn how to export our beautiful tables in a variety of different formats.
