In which I play "Countermeasure", published by Atari in 1982. It seems to have been not-quite-successfully converted to the 8-bit computers, as you will see if you watch this video through. Mapping the controller of the 5200 to a modern gamepad is more than a little bit challenging; compromises must be made. ;-)
Drive your tank across the landscape, avoiding and shooting turrets, missile silos, fuel dumps, and occasionally getting part of a missile code abort sequence. Once in awhile you trigger global thermonuclear war!
Some extra info about the video. I first played on the Atari 8-bit computer and it didn't go very well. Here are some notes from that experience, and after I thought to try it on the 5200.
Update: After I recorded this video, I thought to try it on my DE-10 Nano FPGA board. Same behaviour, sadly.
Update update: Tried it on the FPGA using the 5200 core, and it works! Victory is mine! I will play on the 5200, and then splice the two videos together, with the unsuccessful play at the end.... :-)
