Hamish Henderson reading four poems: 'Glasclune and Drumlochy', 'The Cell 1', 'The Cell 2', and his translation of 'Chimaera' by Dino Campana.
All four poems are published in Hamish Henderson's 'Collected Poems' (ed. Corey Gibson), Polygon, 2019.
Recorded on 2nd April 1986 by Alexander Hutchsion at the School of Scottish Studies, 27 George Square, Edinburgh.
'Cnoc-mahar' in line 1 of 'Glasclune and Drumlochy' is most likely a reference to Knockmahar, the castle owned by the Blairs "on a ridge above Blairgowrie". See http://www.stravaiging.com/history/ca...
These recordings were made for the cassette magazine 'Bonfire', edited by Scottish poet Alexander Hutchison, Edinburgh, 1986. Only 'Chimaera' was included; the other poems have never been made public until now. Also included on the 'Bonfire' cassette: readings by Norman MacCaig, an interview with Ronald Stevenson, and songs by Jo Miller and Lorraine Jordan.
A copy of 'Bonfire' exists in the Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh.
