While the original GT-R started out as a 485 HP Porsche Turbo bashing bargain at $70,000 today you can’t take home a new one for less that $100K. The 2015 Nissan GT-R Premium is powered by a VR38DETT, the hand-built 3.8 Liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine sends power to all four wheels and can propel the GT-R to nearly 200 MPH.

The Nissan GT-R was designed in a wind tunnel in order to ensure that the super car can slice through the air with the greatest of ease and leave occupants undisturbed and able to carry out casual conversations at absurdly high rates of speed. The tires are filled with pure Nitrogen instead of compressed air to make sure water won’t separate and slosh around at speed. The rims are knurled like a dirt bike to ensure they don’t slip too far inside the rim when using launch control. The suspension set-up is asymmetrical to optimize handling when only the driver is inside running around a racetrack.

Unlike most automotive icons, the GT-R was instantly a hit when it was introduced back in 2008. Even though Nissan Skyline GT-Rs had been setting records around the world since the 1970s, it was the super car’s legacy in the virtual world that solidified the R35s success as a replacement to the legendary Skyline GT-R. The 2015 Nissan GT-R Premium we tested started out at $101,770 and was worth every penny.
