Crossing the Bay of Biscay: La Rochelle to Bilbao 🌊

The Bay of Biscay is renowned for its unpredictable weather, and rough seas but it was a different danger that caught us off guard at dawn on our second day.
🫣 We encountered a pod of orcas, who at first, kept their distance before two broke away from the pod. They circled us before swimming under the stern quarter and circling us again.
Orca interactions have become more common off the coasts of Spain and Portugal, with reports of them damaging rudders, or worse, actually sinking boats. Our experience was definitely a wake-up call!
