Native lenses always have the benefits. First, the size. Second, the focus speed. As I have mentioned before, I’m a wide angle shooter. I always need to do V-logging kinda videos when I go travel. And good wide angle lens is very important to me. In this last min Bangkok work trip, I took the 8-18mm lens with me. First of all, the build quality is fantastic. Very nice metal finish. And it was still very light weight. Second, as I’m a video shooting this is the first super angle lens from LUMIX that you can screw on a ND filter. Which is awesome with shooting in bright sunlight. The only down side is the aperture of this lens, it doesn’t go all the way f/2.8. Unlike the Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro Lens. Also this lens doesn’t have IS. So working with GH5S camera might be an issue sometime. But the whole review that I did was on a tripod. So it was okay for me.

Over all, it is a beautiful lens. It’s a pretty nice wide angle lens with less distortion. The edges were pretty sharp too. I’m pretty happy with the image quality.
