🟣 Magnesium
Improves insulin receptor function, enhances GLUT4-mediated glucose uptake, and reduces systemic inflammation. In RCTs, 200–250 mg/day lowered HbA1c by nearly 10% and improved insulin resistance markers (DOI: [10.18203/2349-3933.ijam20251934]; PMID: 30587761).
🟡 Berberine
Activates AMPK to suppress hepatic glucose output and boost glycolysis. Trials show it reduces HbA1c by ~2%, with added benefits in lowering insulin resistance and postprandial glucose (PMID: 18442638).
⚫ Metformin
Reduces hepatic gluconeogenesis and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity. Typically lowers HbA1c by 1–1.5% and supports modest weight loss, especially effective early in disease progression.
🍎 Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
Acetic acid blunts post-meal glucose spikes by slowing gastric emptying and enhancing insulin response. In one study, 30 mL/day for 8 weeks dropped A1C from 9.2% to 7.8% (PMID: 38028980).
🟤 Cinnamon
Improves insulin signaling, increases glycogen storage, and slows carbohydrate digestion. 1 g/day reduced HbA1c by 0.83% in 3 months when added to standard care (PMID: 19734396).
