"Tax the rich" is the mantra of the bitter, reddit-politics-poisoned sub-midwit.

It exhibits a single-minded focus on causing suffering to a percieved enemy, over focus on bettering conditions for those less fortunate.

While wrapped in a lazy veneer of anti-establishmentism, all while serving as a mouthpiece for that same establishment that is taxing us into oblivion already.

If that wasn't bad enough, it exhibits a profound ignorance of economics and, more importantly, human nature.

In 2022 the UK lost 1,600 millionaires, in 2023 4,200 and in 2024 10,800.

"Taxing the rich" or rather "Taxing the rich more than they are willing to put up with" will just lead to them leaving, and taking their money with them.

Leaving us high and dry and leaving the government looking for a different group to subsist off and perpetuate it's wretched existence.

You need to understand incentives and second order effects.

If you don't, then nobody should listen to you on any topic ever.

No economy has been taxed back to life, ever.

A more productive idea would be to think up ways to reduce government waste, that way they won't have to tax us more.

And there is plenty of area that is ripe for the "Afuera!" treatment.

But as is par for the course with these astroturfed topics, the recent "Tax the rich" craze is not about fixing problems, it is about manufactured consent.

It is about paving the way for yet more taxation, yet more abuse, yet more immiseration, yet more humiliation, sustaining, feeding this hobgoblin, keeping the malignant system that is responsible for literally every single problem in this country alive for just a few more years.

You people will never talk about solutions that might benefit the people, because you're not advocates for the people, you're puppets of the state.

Which is demonstrated in how you approach taxation as if it's a moral duty that the people have to the state instead of what it is, a commission.

Taxes are payment for a service.

A payment that is forfeit when the state displays a lack of legitimacy, as it has consistently done over the last 20-odd years.

Really all politics in the UK is just a waiting game at this point.

Or rather a game of chicken.

Who will crack first?

Will things change or will we all just kill ourselves because we can't put up with the bullshit anymore?

Well don't worry, because if you want to check out early, they're bringing in M.A.I.D., because that worked out so well for Canada, huh?
