Arizona High Desert Homestead | Part 11
We’re back on our Arizona high‑desert homestead with a simple but super useful homestead hack: breaking down pallets for building projects. Today I’m tearing pallets apart with two of my kids so we can put up some siding on our chicken coop and keep pushing this off‑grid build forward.
Instead of fighting with pry bars or destroying half the boards, we used a Milwaukee Sawzall to slice cleanly through the nails and free the lumber fast. This trick has become one of our go‑to methods for turning free + cheap pallets into usable building material on the homestead.
If you’re working on your own Arizona homestead, building a chicken coop, or looking for easy DIY ways to reuse pallets, this method saves time, saves boards, and keeps the project moving. More raw‑land progress coming soon as we keep building our off‑grid life one project at a time.
In Spring 2025, we bought 20 acres in Valle, Arizona near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
We’re turning this raw land into a modern off‑grid homestead, learning as we go. If you’re into growing food, rainwater harvesting, solar power, land development, or the realities of off‑grid life, you’ll feel right at home here.
Subscribe and follow our journey as we build this homestead from the ground up.
