Rooted in the historical typology established by James Elmslie, this Messer features a Type 3e blade geometry, characterized by a robust spine, moderate taper, and pronounced curve toward the tip – ideal for delivering powerful cuts and responsive handling.

Historically, the Langes Messer ("long knife") was favored in the German-speaking regions as a civilian sidearm and fencing weapon. It was frequently used in the tradition of Kunst des Fechtens (The Art of Fencing) as preserved by fencing masters like Johannes Lecküchner. With its clipped point and extended grip, it bridges the gap between a knife and a sword – allowing one-handed or half-swording techniques with a thumb on the spine or ricasso.

Our Messer stays true to this tradition while embracing modern materials and craftsmanship. Forged from resilient 65Mn spring steel, the blade is heat-treated for excellent flexibility and impact endurance – perfect for both cutting performance and light sparring (if blunted).
