My theory is that Game of Thrones has so far been influenced by the Tudor succession, and the Wars of the Roses. Using this knowledge, I make predictions about the continuing succession of the Iron Throne.
I make a lot of generalizations in the historical portion, for the sake of brevity, so I do suggest researching further if you're interested.
Some notes on topics covered in the video...
Regarding Henry Fitzroy and Edward VI, the poisoning theory has been around for a long time, but so far no evidence has been discovered to suggest that this is actually the case. The boys most likely died of tuberculosis.
Jane Grey was a quiet woman trapped in an unhappy marriage, and more reflects the image of Cersei put forward in the Mummer's Farce, rather than the real Cersei Lannister. The comparison is purely political.
Elizabeth I was not sexually abused according to her contemporaries. However she was in a modern sense. As a teenager, she lived with her stepmother (Katherine Parr) and stepfather (Thomas Seymour). Servants often complained that Thomas would show up in Elizabeth's bedroom to tickle her, and that at one point he chased her through the garden and cut her dress off. His antics were eventually discovered by his wife, who forced Elizabeth to move out.
The John pictured in the video is actually John Lackland. The John who was barred from succession was John of Gaunt. I got a bit mixed up. John Lackland was deposed, and exiled, but was never barred from the throne. Thanks to the redditor who pointed this out!
