P0455 gone after new purge valve, now P0442 code — 2006 Mazda 6S

Dropped off my car at the mechanic Tuesday after work. They replaced the purge valve. I picked it up Wednesday, codes were cleared, no CEL. Filled up the tank at the local gas station and started the engine with no issues! Wonderful! Seems to have resolved the issues.
However…the following evening, 30 miles later, I started the engine for the 3rd / 4th time and the CEL came on. Checked the codes later that evening with OBD Fusion and now we’re getting P0442 code, small evap leak. Googled this and found the most common cause is a loose or faulty gas cap. I wonder if that’s why I don’t hear any hissing sound when taking off the gas cap (vacuum / vapor) like I did many times before?
I think I will order a new OEM gas cap (online Mazda community says they work better) before taking the car back to the mechanic. Stay tuned.
