After camping out in Matthew Arnold’s words from ‘Dover Beach’, I felt inspired to write a response. Call it a homage to a prophet who captured a moment in time with poetry and profundity. Maybe we too are seeing a sea change?, ‘a turning of the tide’, to quote Justin Brierly.
With Bible Society’s ‘quiet revival’ report pointing to a fresh hunger for spiritual meaning - may the sea of faith come back in, and may we pray for Dover’s Return, as the holy tide hugs the shore once more.
