The BAE Systems Hawk is a British single-engine, jet-powered advanced trainer aircraft. It was first flown at Dunsfold, Surrey, in 1974 as the Hawker Siddeley Hawk, and subsequently produced by its successor companies, British Aerospace and BAE Systems. It has been used in a training capacity and as a low-cost combat aircraft.
Jet trainer BAe Hawk entered service with Ilmavoimat, the Finnish Air Force, in 1980. Thanks to additional purchases and updates the Hawk is still in use in 2015 and will serve well into the 2030s. The Hawk has proved to be an excellent jet trainer with good handling qualities and performance.

Ilmavoimien Hawkit on sijoitettu Ilmasotakoulun Hävittäjälentolaivue 41:een ja niitä käytetään pääasiassa ohjaajien jatko- ja taktisessa lentokoulutuksessa. The Kauhava Air Show 2025 is the main air show of the Finnish Aeronautical Association (FAA) and the largest air show in Finland in 2025.

The Air Force Academy's operations in Kauhava ended in 2014, but its legacy still lives strong in the area. Kauhava Airport and its surroundings are an integral part of Finnish aviation history, and they provide a unique place for aviation events and exhibitions.
The roots of the Air Force Academy in Kauhava date back to the late 1920s, when the Finnish Air Force began to focus its training activities in the area. Kauhava was chosen as the training center due to its strategic location and suitable terrain conditions. Over the years, the Air Force Academy trained hundreds if not thousands of pilots who served in the Finnish Air Force in various parts of the country. Several different aircraft models were used in the training, some of which can still be seen in the Kauhava airport area.
