Annamalai alleged that Iyer’s statements reveal an 'underhand deal' between the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, claiming the Congress knows it cannot win against a surging BJP. 'Since Congress knows it can't win, BJP is surging in Kerala, I see this statement as an underhand deal between Congress and Communists there,' Annamalai stated. He further criticised Iyer’s history of controversial remarks, including the 'chaiwala' insult directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP leader suggested that while the Congress and the Left appear as rivals in Kerala, they maintain a national alliance to fool the public. Annamalai expressed confidence that the BJP's success in the Thiruvananthapuram corporation would be replicated across the state, as the party prepares to challenge both the Congress and the Communists in the upcoming elections.
