Basic G+ cleans oil contaminated sands.
1 g of sand is contaminated with about 20 g of exhausted engine oil. 1 g of Basic G+ is then mixed with polluted sand to favor oil adsorption inside hydrophobic particles. After few minutes some fresh water is added to the system in order to separate cleaned sand from adsorbent particles. Sand grains stay on the bottom of the becker while all sorbed oil floats on water surface within sorbent material. The floating of Basic G+ derived from its low bulk density (2 g/l) and its high hydrophobicity (it does not sorb water and does not sink)
