Bowstring Truss

Aaron from ShopBot was here most of last week and is still here through today! The machine is all assembled, works like a dream, and we are wrapping up training. Next week we’ll show you how we put it together and the first few things we’ve made with it.

This week’s video is a little shorter than usual since we’ve been so busy with the new equipment and the RFQ. Take a look as Ben makes a bowstring truss to support the dust collection hose for the new ShopBot. It’s on a hinge so the hose can swing back and forth with the gantry of the CNC machine while keeping the dust collection up out of the way.

The bowstring truss is made out of 3/4” EMT electrical conduit and uses these really cool connectors from a company called Maker Pipe.
