Monday was a picture perfect day to lace up and hit the great outdoors, but visitors backpacking the Adirondack High Peaks were faced with a roadblock or two. On July 13, heavy rain in parts of the North Country left landslides in its wake, collapsing popular hiking routes. The 'Avalanche Pass' trail is closed for the foreseeable future while the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) assesses the damage.
